Gulliver's Travels is an animated fantasy film directed by Dave Fleischer based on Jonathan Swift's novel of the same name that follows the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver, a surgeon and ship captain whose love of traveling is put to the test as he finds himself in strange lands. On his first voyage at sea, he finds himself shipwrecked and washed ashore in an unusual uncharted island of Lilliput. A land filled with exceptionally small people, barely reaching six inches, the Lilliputians are at war with their equally sized neighbors of the island Blefuscu. The two kingdoms had been allies until a minor squabble over a song to be played at the wedding of the Kings' children led to the declaration of war. Of course, Gulliver's gigantic size makes him a fantastic weapon for the Lilliputians. However, when the Blefuscians send in three spies, Sneak, Snoop, and Snitch, to steal Gulliver's gun, known as Gulliver's Thunder Machine, Gulliver tries to come up with a way to end the war before anyone, including himself, gets killed. A result of a competition between Fleischer Studios and Disney, Gulliver's Travels was nominated for two Academy Awards, one for Best Score and Best Song.moreless
