Guncrazy is a 1992 crime thriller starring Drew Barrymore and James LeGros. It tells the story of promiscuous, misguided high school student Anita Minteer (Drew Barrymore) and bad boy Howard Hickock (James LeGros). Anita begins writing to Howard, an inmate at a local prison, as part of a class project. The two form a close bond; Howard is kind to Anita, and she finds herself inspired to violence by their correspondence after discovering that Howard was jailed for manslaughter. When Howard, initially determined to turn his life around, is released from prison on parole for good behavior, the two grow even closer and get married. On their wedding night, Anita confesses that she shot and killed her mother's boyfriend, a man who repeatedly abused and assaulted her. Anita solicits Howard's help in hiding the body. Their rage and elation at successfully committing murder spur them to greater criminal heights, drawing the film to its tragic, inevitable, and gripping conclusion.
