Guys and Dolls is a 1955 musical about a group of gamblers and criminals in New York City. Nathan Detroit (Frank Sinatra) is in trouble. His fiancée, Miss Adelaide (Vivian Blaine) wants to get married after being engaged for 14 years. She also wants Nathan to go straight and give up his life as an illegal gambler. Organizing illegal gambling is the only thing that Nathan knows how to do, however, and he is currently having trouble putting a game together. He visits old friend, Sky Masterson (Marlon Brando), trying to get financing for the game. Sky agrees, but insists that instead of loaning Nathan the money, he will make a bet with him. Nathan proposes that Sky must succeed in taking a woman of Nathan's choosing to dinner in Cuba. He chooses a nun named Sarah Brown (Jean Simmons) and, confident that he will win, begins organizing his illegal game. Though everything appears to finally be working out for Nathan, his troubles have only just begun.moreless
