Halfway Decent is a 2005 comedy drama directed by Alan Berger. In the film, Detective Tom Black's (Ernie Hudson) life is falling apart. His only child, Tom Jr. (Jamil Walker Smith), is in drug rehab and Tom must struggle to pay for his son's expensive treatments. At work his partner, Mike (Joe Ricci), is a crooked cop. With Tom's money woes and family drama, working with Mike makes Tom miserable. Then when things cannot seem to get much worse, Tom's wife, Bonnie (Finn Carter), demands they have another child or get divorced. Tom cannot fathom having another child, he does not feel they did a great job with their first son and they cannot afford it anyways. So, Bonnie follows through with her threat and leaves Tom. Now Tom must find a way to only count on himself, but still take care of the people in his life that count on him.
