Halloween is the 1978 horror film directed, produced and written by the acclaimed John Carpenter. Halloween is the tale of Michael Myers (Nick Castle), a twenty-one year old man institutionalized at Smith's Grove Warren County Sanitarium under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) since October 31, 1963, the day he stabbed his sister to death with a kitchen knife. On October 30, 1978 Michael escapes custody and flees to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois just in time for Halloween. Dr. Loomis knows the dark plans Michael has for the people of Haddonfield and races to put a halt to the murderous rampage. Babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis in her first film role) is the focus of Michael's madness and dressed in his now iconic coveralls and white mask, he stalks Laurie and her friends, killing the friends one by one until only Laurie remains. It's up to Dr. Loomis to save the babysitter as Laurie falls into the grasp of the madman. A classic in the slasher film genre, Halloween features plenty of sex and gore.moreless
