Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is a 1998 horror film that chronicles the return of Michael Myers (Chris Durand) as he attempts to finish killing a potential victim who survived 20 years earlier. The protagonist, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), managed to escape the grips of Myers in 1978, when he broke out of his institution trying to kill her. Now in 1998, with a different name and profession, Strode is serving time as the dean of a California private school and beginning to get her life together. That peace of mind soon comes to an end after she learns that Myers has returned and managed to track her down. With her students and son (Josh Harnett) now in danger, Strode makes the decision to stop running and finally face Myers in an attempt to kill him once and for all. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later was directed by Robert Zappia and served as the seventh installment of the famed Halloween series.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 90

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

Halloween: H20 is as stylish and scary as it is ultra-violent. It's a work of superior craftsmanship in all aspects.

  • 70

    Variety Dennis Harvey

While plot mechanics aren't wildly imaginative, pic nonetheless delivers requisite jolts in an above-average package.

  • 60

The New York Times Lawrence Van Gelder

For horror film devotees eager to know how this unseasonable visit from the darker spirits of autumn rates, frankly, it's more marketing trick than moviegoer treat.
