Halls Of Montezuma is a 1950 war film set in the battle of Guadalcanal. In it, Lt. Anderson (Richard Widmark), leads his men against the Japanese and loses almost all of his battalion. Only seven men remain, one of whom, Corporal Stuart Conroy (Richard Hylton), is a man that Anderson knows from back home. Anderson had been a chemistry teacher, and Conroy was one of his students. The remaining soldiers have only a day to infiltrate Japanese lines to prevent the enemy from launching a rocket attack that will devastate the Allies. They know that this is a mission which could cost them their lives. However, Anderson is set on bringing them through it alive. They have to fight in every terrain, including the urban jungle, beachfront, and abandoned caves. Along the way, they develop the kind of camaraderie known only by those who have to depend on one another in life and death situations.
