Hansel & Gretel is a modern adaptation of the beloved German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Starring Dakona Fanning, Thomas Curtis, Gerald McRaney, Delta Burke and the voice of Sinbad, the film starts off innocuously as two children, Andrew and Kate, are tucked into bed by their father as he reads them the tale of Hansel and Gretel. The film's perspective shifts to that of the fairy tale. Hansel and Gretel are living with their father and their evil stepmother. One day on a walk through the woods, the evil stepmother leaves them to fend for themselves in the deep, thick forest. Hansel and Gretel try to find food in the forst but end up at a troll's house who wants to eat them. Hansel and Gretel are saved by the Sandman. The plot thickens as magical fairies and talking ravens are introduced into the plot, making for a sensational, fantastical film for all ages.
