Happiness Runs is the story of one boy's quest to save himself and his girlfriend from the mind-bending ways of a polygamist commune. Victor (Mark L. Young) sees the destruction of humanity all around him, his mother (Andie MacDowell) recruits women to give all of their money and possessions to the commune leader, Insley (Rutger Hauer). Children at the commune are exposed to sex and drugs at a very early age and their psychological and emotional development suffers, and their views of the world become bastardized. One day, Victor's childhood friend, Becky (Hanna Hall), returns to the commune to care for her ailing father. She gets caught up in the sex and drug scene at the commune. This causes Victor to vow that he will escape the commune with Becky and save both of their lives.
