Happy Campers is a darkly humorous teen comedy about seven college freshman who are suddenly put in charge of an out-of-control summer camp. The story takes place at Camp Bleeding Dove, located somewhere in North Carolina. When the one and only camp director (Peter Stormare) is struck by lightning, the seven counselors are forced to organize the next 40 days of activities, and they do so, but first they toss aside the camp manual. The few dozen kids in their charge experience the normal trials of young campers: homesickness, crushes, teasing and minor injuries. However, camp life becomes even more chaotic when a hurricane hits and the personalities and relationships between counselors become the film's focus. Wichita (Brad Renfro) would like to be practical and detached, but finds himself falling for Wendy (Dominique Swain), a true romantic. Bubbly Wendy is a sharp contrast to Talia (Emily Bergl) who is shy and perpetually depressed. Nerdy Donald (Justin Long), hippy Pixel (Jaime King), horny Adam (Jordan Bridges) and openly gay counselor Jasper (Keram Malicki-Sanchez) round out this diverse cast of characters.moreless
