Happy Here and Now is the thrilling story of a young woman who's never quite happy, and soon realizes that her life could be much worse. When Muriel (Shalom Harlow) goes missing in the mysterious city of New Orleans it is up to her sister Amelia (Liane Balaban) to uncover clues as she attempts to find Muriel. Bill (Clarence Williams III), an ex-CIA agent, aids Ameila in her search for her missing sister's location. The suspense is intensified when Amelia discovers a web video that will lead the two into an unknown complex created by the leaders of New Orleans' underground economy. As Amelia and Bill delve deeper into the underground network, they quickly realize that saving Muriel is going to take extreme measures. Directed by Michael Almereyda, Happy Here and Now has won multiple awards in the independent film genre, and has been noted as being a true masterpiece of the indie film world.
