Movie Summary

Director:

Released:
2011
Rating:
R
Happythankyoumoreplease is a dynamic comedy-drama centered around several failing relationships. The film was written and directed by Josh Radnor who is best known for his role in How I Met Your Mother, the CBS sitcom. Happythankyoumoreplease initially follows Sam (Josh Radnor), an ambitious novelist, as he travels the NYC subway on his way to meet a publisher. But when he befriends a young orphaned boy named Rasheen (Michael Algieri) who sits next to him, he decides to skip his meeting. A strong bond develops when Sam invites him to his house and begins to look after Rasheen. Through their relationship, we also learn about Sam's friends and the issues they are faced with. Happythankyoumoreplease co-stars Malin Akerman, Kate Mara, Zoe Kazan, Tony Hale, and Pablo Schreiber. Josh Radnor has a keen perception of the struggles faced by many during their late twenties and early thirties. It is no wonder this Garden State-esque film won the Best Drama Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 40

    Los Angeles Times

Treating their problems like they're the most important crises in the world is what people in their 20s do, but that doesn't mean we have to go along for the ride.

  • 40

    Variety

With the exception of Akerman's Annie, the characters are uniformly annoying, their stories insubstantial and the tone one of smug contentment.

  • 20

The New York Times Stephen Holden

It is no wonder that the insufferable romantic comedy Happythankyoumoreplease, set in New York, looks and sounds like a flop pilot for a television sitcom.
