Hard Luck is a 2006 crime drama co-written by Larry Brand and Mario Van Peebles and directed by Van Peebles. The film follows a reformed drug dealer, Lucky (Wesley Snipes), who attempts to live a better life after his release from prison. Finding himself in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, he sees his attempts to change his life derailed. Lucky travels to New York where his string of bad luck continues. The funds he attains to run yoga and dance classes for disadvantaged street kids is revoked by the government. He then reunites with two acquaintances from his former criminal life. He finds himself in the middle of another bad drug deal and goes on the run with stripper Angie (Jackie Quinones), drugs and cash. The viewer is inexplicably shown snippets of another criminal couple Chang (Hiroyuki Liao) and Cass (Cybil Shepherd) known to the police as the Sawtooth Killers. Unhappy with the treatment Cass' son receives for his mental illness, Cass and Chang go on a kidnapping and murder rampage, recording their exploits along the way.
