Harvie Krumpet is a 2003 clay animation film made in Australia, which won an Academy Award for Animated Short Film, directed by Adam Elliot. It tells the story of Harvek Milos Krumpetzki, a Polish World War II refugee who comes to Spotswood, Australia, and changes his name to Harvie Krumpet. Despite being extremely unlucky in his life, such as having Tourette's Syndrome, being struck by lightning and losing a testicle, he manages to stay optimistic and tries to find small and simple pleasures that make life worth living. He enjoys every little good thing that God throws at him and takes nothing for granted. He marries a nurse that he meets at the hospital and raises an adoptive daughter with a disability. Although tragedy and storms seem to dominate his life, he embraces an attitude of living every second of his existence with passion, facing every challenge and seeking inspiration to keep going forward.
