Movie Summary

Tommy Stovall
Hate Crimes is about a quiet community after a horrible hate crime. This independent drama starts off right after the crime was committed. Robbie Levinson and Trey McCoy are gay boyfriends for six years in a town near Dallas; they've been sharing a comfortable home most of that time, and are planning to get married once it is legalized. Robbie and Trey are good neighbors who get along well with the other folks in the community until Chris Boyd moves in next door. Chris is a youth pastor at a church run by his father a Christian who preaches often about the evils of homosexuality. This does not make Robbie and Trey feel comfortable. Chris is outlandish and very homophobic. Trey is found dead in a nearby park, where he as beaten with a baseball bat. Robbie believes his awful neighbor Chris may be involved. However, Chris' father and mother provide an alibi for him, and the police hand the case from Detective Fisher, who investigates hate crimes, to Sgt. Esposito in the homicide department. Robbie gets involved and wants justice for his birthday.moreless
