Held Up is a 1999 comedy film directed by Steve Rash. Rae (Nia Long) and Michael (Jamie Foxx) are a seemingly happy couple on a road trip through the American southwest. Rae soon discovers that Michael spent $15,000 of their hard earned savings on a muscle car. Furious at this revelation, Rae strands Michael at a convenience store and leaves for the airport. Upon trying to leave, however, the store is held up by a group of armed assailants. Michael assumes the role of main hostage negotiator speaking with Roberto (Eduardo Y''ez), the main gunman, and the unruly and seemingly incompetent police team. All Michael wants to do is get out of there and make it to the airport before Rae leaves him forever.
