Her Favorite Patient is a romantic comedy that also goes by the name of Bedside Manner. This film typifies many of the light-hearted comedies made during World War Two. A female physician stops at her hometown in the Midwest on her way to a newly accepted assignment at a prestigious Chicago research facility. The uncle she stays with is also a doctor and wants her to stay in town and help him out since he is so overworked. The niece remains adamant about resuming her journey to Chicago until she meets a dashing young test pilot. The uncle and pilot then scheme to keep her in place. Dr. Hedy Fredericks (Ruth Hussey) obviously welcomes the attention bestowed upon her by Airman Morgan Hale (John Carrol). She also has a soft spot in her heart for her uncle Dr. Fredericks (Charles Ruggles). Even after their plotting comes to light, she forgives both men, but this still does not resolve the central issue. The plot continues with her having to choose whether to stay in town or move to the big city.moreless
