Here Comes Mr. Jordan is a mind-bending romantic comedy that stars Robert Montgomery as kind-hearted boxer Joe Pendleton, who is killed in a plane crash on his way to a championship fight. When his spirit ascends to heaven, though, head angel Mr. Jordan (Claude Rains) tells Joe that a mistake has been made - Joe was supposed to survive the crash. Undaunted, Mr. Jordan and Joe return to earth to scout out another body for Joe and find one in the unlikely candidate of corrupt banker Bruce Farnsworth (also played by Montgomery). Joe takes over Farnsworth's body and tries to pay back those who were bilked by Farnsworth's shady deals. In the process, he falls in love with Bette Logan, the daughter of a man jailed when Farnsworth implicated him in an illegal stock-selling scheme. Joe's stay in Farnsworth's body is only temporary, though, and it takes all of Mr. Jordan's skill to make sure that Joe has the happy ending he truly deserves in this heart-warming Academy award winner.moreless
