Here Comes the Groom is a classic musical comedy film directed by Frank Capra and released in 1951. Foreign journalist Pete Garvey (Bing Crosby) must marry within seven days if he wants to finalize his adoption of two French orphans. Speeding back to the United States with his young Parisian charges, Garvey intends to marry his girlfriend Emmadel (Jane Wyman). Upon his arrival, however, he is despondent to learn that she has accepted a proposal from another man. Running out of time, he realizes that he must change her mind in only a few days in order to keep his adopted children. This light, feel-good film has often been overlooked in favor of other musicals from the same era, but has developed a loyal fan base and has grown increasingly popular in the decades since its initial release. Here Comes the Groom is filled with charming, catchy songs that will delight fans of the inimitable Bing Crosby, and should not be missed by anyone who loves American musical films.
