Hero of Rome is a 1964 dramatic film based on the legend of Gaius Mucius Scaevola, a young warrior who removed the last King of Rome, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. The people of Rome have finally overthrown their tyrannical leader Tarquin, (Massimo Serato) who will stop at nothing to regain his throne. Mucius (Gordon Scott) is a fiercely brave warrior, called upon Tarquin to kill Porsena, (Roldano Lupi) the new Etruscan leader of Rome. Musius takes on the mission, but when kills the wrong man, he voluntarily burns his hand in an open flame to show his remorse and fortitude. The impressed Porsena releases Musius, but meanwhile Tarquin, in an alleged truce with Porsena, calls for ten virgins to be delivered to the king as hostages. When one of the women is Mucius' fiance Clelia, (Gabriella Pallotta) the fearless warrior learns to use a sword with his left hand, and sets out to take down the right king this time. Giorgio Ferroni directs this historical action film depicting a climactic and monumental time in Rome's history.
