Herpes Boy is a 2009 comedy directed by Nathaniel Atcheson and written by Byron Lane, which tells the story of a troubled boy whose life transforms from tragedy to triumph in a peculiar way. Rudy (Byron Lane) has a massive birthmark on his upper lip that makes him the object of teasing and bad taste irony. Rudy doesn't have a social life, but he spends his time documenting what happens with his strange family in a video blog. His only friends are other people who for some reason are inconvenient to society, and who make comments about his video work. Rudy's videos include Mom (Beth Grant), a woman who is too obsessed with spirituality to notice that there is something wrong with her son, and Dad (Michael Chieffo), a soccer coach who cares more about his team than about his family. Rudy's uneventful life takes a dramatic turn when his cousin Cristeee (Ahna O'Reilly) decides to edit the videos and post them online, which brings Rudy unexpected popularity and fame.moreless
