Hey, Let's Twist is a rock and roll classic. The film, made by Paramount Pictures in 1961, tells the fictionalized story of the rise of the Peppermint Lounge, the New York club where the Twist dance craze was born. It's the story of young brothers Joey (played by real life singer Joey Dee) and Rickey Dee (Teddy Randazzo), and their popular band The Starliters. When the brothers decide to "quit school for the twist," they do so with the knowledge that it will disappoint and even anger Papa Dee (Dino Di Luca). But when their father falls ill, they turn his Italian restaurant into a hip dance lounge whose success convinces Papa to keep it and accept their music. The new venue is a big hit and the band's popularity reaches new peaks, but despite falling in love and making it big, success in show business doesn't prove easy for the Dee family.
