Hi Diddle Diddle is an entertaining film from director Andrew Stone that tests the strength of family and love. Debutante Janie Prescott's (Martha Scott) wedding day is not going as she planned when she discovers her soon to be husband and sailor, Sonny Phyfe (Dennis O'Keefe), is delayed at sea. Things go from bad to worse when loveable swindler Hector Phyfe (Adolphe Menjou), Sonny's father, steals a corsage meant for another bride, opera singer Genya Smetana (Pola Negri), and presents it as a gift for Janie. Little do they know that the corsage was a gift from Genya's opera company and contained more than flowers. The corsage clip was studded with diamonds and worth a small fortune. Janie does not believe her wedding day could be any worse when her ex-suitor, Peter Warrington III (Barton Hepburn) shows up and tells everyone that Janie has lost her considerable inheritance. Sonny finally shows up, but between Janie's pining ex-suitor, the loss of her fortune and the trouble that Hector is stirring up, it will take more than true love for Sonny and Janie to live happily ever after.moreless
