Hideous Sun Demon is a 1959 American horror film starring, written, produced, and directed by Robert Clarke. Dr. Gilbert McKenna (Clarke) is exposed to dangerous levels of radiation when an experiment with isotopes goes awry. He is quickly rushed to the hospital and after a series of the tests, the doctors find that McKenna is perfectly healthy but should remain in the hospital for a few more days. When Gilbert goes to the solarium, he falls asleep in the sun, but when he awakens he discovers that he has devolved into a scaled reptile. Gilbert then flees to his mansion on the coast, where he drinks until he passes out. While drinking at the local bar, Gilbert becomes friendly with a woman named Trudy (Nan Peterson), and the two make love. Because Gilbert abandons her at daybreak, he is later beat up by local thugs trying to protect Trudy. Gilbert slowly loses control of his actions as the creature and leads the police on a chase through an oil field.moreless
