High Roller: The Bob Perry Story is a highly engaging documentary, chronicling the rise, fall and redemption of professional bowler, Bob Purzyck. He lost his eye as a child and was forced to relearn the entire game of bowling in a modified form without the use of depth perception. He was molested as a child and had a lot to overcome before reaching the pro-leagues. At the start of his career, Purzyck used loopholes and bylaws to make his way into all-black bowling league. He improved steadily, but the allure of drugs and alcohol finally won him over. He lost all his money and any chance he had at making it to the top. During his drug years, Purzyk was hit by a cab and almost killed. And yet somehow, against all odds, he returned to bowling and went on to win the 1997 championship. This film contains both archival footage and extensive interviews with Bob and the people that surrounded him during his years as both a bowler and drug addict.moreless
