High Tension (originally titled Haute Tension) is a gruesome 2003 French horror film directed by Alexandre Aja. Marie (C''cile de France) and Alexia (Ma''wenn) are two college friends traveling on a weekend trip to stay at Alexia's parents' idyllic countryside farm. While the two girls arrive late, Alexia's father (Andre Finti) warmly welcomes them. Unfortunately, the weekend getaway turns into a stark struggle for survival when a disturbed serial killer (Philippe Nahon) breaks into the home and horrifically slaughters Alex's entire family in gruesome ways before Marie's shocked eyes. The killer then takes Alex captive in his truck, with Marie in pursuit and vowing to protect her friend at all cost, even while the killer's body count continues to rise. As the girls struggle to survive and uncover the killer's shocking identity it becomes apparent not everything is as it appears, and one of them may be harboring a dark secret.
