Highlander 4: Endgame is a fantasy film released in 2000. Written by Gregory Widen and Eric Bernt and directed by Douglas Aarniokoski, Endgame is the fourth entry in the popular series, continuing the story of both the film and television series. The story follows series stalwart Conor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) and Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) in their battle against evil village priest Jacob Kell (Bruce Payne). After witnessing the death of his friend Rachel, Conor decides to end his involvement in the game, sequestering himself in The Sanctuary, a Watcher-controlled retreat on holy ground. The Sanctuary provides safety to immortals who no longer wish to play the game and also ensures The Prize never falls into evil hands. An enemy from Conor's past returns when Kell commits an act of revenge that Conor cannot ignore. Conor is again forced to return to the game, determined to avenge his family and defeat his nemesis once and for all.
