Hockey Mom, also released as Chicks with Sticks, is a 2004 Canadian sports comedy. It was released in the United States in October 2005. Paula Taymore (Jessalyn Gilsig) is a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet while raising her young son. She is also a former Olympic ice hockey hopeful who still plays when she gets the chance. Unfortunately, she plays mostly with male co-workers and many of them don't take her seriously. Frustrated after being ruthlessly teased once again during a game, she challenges the men to a men-versus-women match to finally show them that women can play hockey just as well as men. Now, she must put together a women's team that can beat the men's team while trying to keep her relationship with her new love, Steve Cooper (Jason Priestley), on track and keep her son happy as well. Also featuring Margot Kidder, Peter Outerbridge, Juliette Marquis, and Michie Mee.
