Hollywood Stadium Mystery, a 1938 murder mystery film made by Republic Pictures, centers on the murder of Ace Cummings (Pat Flaherty) and the investigation and discoveries which follow soon after. Ace, a top boxing contender, prepares to exchange blows with the reigning champion when the lights in the boxing arena suddenly go off, followed by a scream and a strange odor. When the power returns, Ace is dead. Two thousand people are in the audience, and there are two thousand suspects. This sets into motion a series of events featuring a beautiful writer, Pauline Ward (Evelyn Venable), and the district attorney Bill Devons (Neil Hamilton), who both challenge each other in a race to solve the mystery. However, the writer and the DA need to learn to work together to find the culprit, especially since the investigation presents them with unprecedented dangers and puts them in life-threatening situations. Hollywood Stadium Mystery is a black-and-white film and lasts for just over an hour.moreless
