Movie Summary

Director:
Paul F. Ryan
Released:
2003
Rating:
R
After six students lie dead at the hands of a fellow classmate, an unlikely bond forms in the aftermath. Alicia is a Goth misfit who hates the world and everyone in it, and may know more about the shooting than she's telling. Deanna, one of the injured, is a classic overachiever who's now confined to a hospital bed. Brought together by fate and united by secrets, they couldn't be less alike or need each other more.

Metacritic Score

  • 50

The New York Times Stephen Holden

The lead performances of Home Room go a long way toward camouflaging the severe flaws of this exceedingly earnest movie.

  • 40

    Los Angeles Times

Feels like detention -- without the possibility of recess.

  • 30

    Variety Robert Koehler

Writer-editor-director Paul F. Ryan makes the mistake of focusing on an ungainly and, finally, unplayable verbal match between two high schoolers.
