Homeland is a documentary that chronicles the fight led by Native American tribes in their ongoing attempt to preserve their lands. Known as "The New Indian Wars", this fight takes activists all over the United States as they try to maintain a grip on their sovereignty and protect their lands from environmental hazards caused by manufacturing corporations. With the government looking the other way on the misdeeds of the corporations and over thirty years of environmental law completely disregarded right before their eyes, it is up to the people to take up their proverbial arms and push as hard as they can to keep their lands and culture alive and thriving. This film was directed by Roberta Grossman and premiered at the 2006 Fargo Film Festival, where it toured around the country and won the highly prestigious Best Documentary Award for its fearless portrayal of an underdog fight against massive corporations that, for the sake of nothing but profit, seek to destroy centuries of history and culture.moreless
