Hooper tells the story of Sonny Hooper, a grizzled veteran stuntman who is still at the top of his game. Hooper lives with his girlfriend Gwen and her father Jocko, a retired stuntman who can see Hooper is in the twilight of his career. When a new, younger stuntman named Ski Chinskcomes on the scene, the two stuntmen start a friendly rivalry that soon escalates until it is out of control. Hooper gets injured on the set of his latest film and begins to sense he is becoming an old man in a young man's game. He decides to retire after one last stunt; a jump that just happens to be his most dangerous yet! Sonny ultimately teams up with Ski to perform his last stunt: jumping a rocket-propelled car over a gorge!
