Hope Springs is a 2003 romantic comedy directed by Mark Herman. The film follows artist Colin Ware (Colin Firth) who arrives in Hope, Vermont after running away from a failed relationship. Heartbroken and alone after finding out that his fiance intends to marry another man, Colin checks into a motel showing clear signs of an impeding meltdown. Joanie (Mary Steenburgen), the manager of the hotel, seeing his distress, calls her friend Mandy (Heather Graham) to come and console Colin. As they spend time together, Colin recovers from break-up with Vera (Minnie Driver) and begins to fall in love with Mandy. Out of nowhere, Vera shows up in Hope and tries to win back Colin's heart. Colin has lost interest, but Vera refuses to give up. When a fire alarm sends Vera out of hotel room in her underwear with Colin in tow, Mandy assumes they have gotten back together. Now Colin must convince Mandy of his true love or lose her for good.moreless
