2007
Rating:
PG-13
Hot Rod is the story of amateur stuntman Rod Kimble (Andy Samberg) and his quest for respect from his stepfather, Frank (Ian McShane). Rod believes his real father, who is deceased, was a great stuntman and his main goal is to follow in his father's footsteps. Frank mocks Rod's dream, frequently disrespects him and physically overpowers him in their weekly fisticuffs. One day Frank learns that he needs a heart transplant and Rod takes it upon himself to raise the money needed. Rod does this so that Frank doesn't die before he has a chance to "smash his face in." Rod quickly hatches a plan to raise the money by performing a death-defying stunt: he plans on jumping over 15 school buses on his moped. With the help of his friends Rico (Danny McBride), Dave (Bill Hader) and his half-brother Kevin (Jorma Taccone), Rod pursues both of his goals, becoming an accomplished stuntman and saving his stepfather's life.
