House of 1000 Corpses is a 2003 horror film from writer/director Rob Zombie and starring Rainn Wilson, Erin Daniels, Chris Hardwick, and Jennifer Jostyn. The film takes place in 1977, when two young couples on a road trip adventure find themselves the victims of a family of blood-thirsty lunatics . Bill (Wilson), Jerry (Hardwick), Denise (Daniels), and Mary (Jostyn) have grand plans to write a book about lesser-known roadside attractions while driving across America. They discover a Museum of the Strange operated by the bizarre Captain Spaulding that tells the local legend of Dr. Satan, a deranged doctor who was hanged nearby for his bloody deeds. As they try to learn more about the myth for the benefit of their book, they find themselves in the company of the Firefly family where things begin to go wrong. House of 1000 Corpses is a gory fright fest and the film debut of musician Rob Zombie.
