Movie Summary

Yimou Zhang

House of Flying Daggers is a action-drama period piece brought to you by director Zhang Yimou. The movie is set in China, during an era when the Tang dynasty reigns. The dynasty has enough reason to believe an anarchist group called the Flying Daggers are planning a rebellion against the government. Two law marshals, Leo (Andy Lau) and Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro) are commissioned to track down the whereabouts of the Flying Daggers, in an effort to stop the revolution before it can happen. It is believed the group works out of the Peony Pavilion, a local brothel. The gentleman visit the brothel house, where Jin unexpectedly falls for a beautiful blind dancer named Mei (Zhang Ziyi). Meanwhile, Leo lies to Mei, gains her trust, and then suddenly turns on her and threatens to kill her if she does not tell him where the Flying Daggers are hiding. Jin, in a confused state, helps Mei escape Leo's hold, but with the intention of following her to the location of the Flying Daggers. This is a suspenseful story of romance you don't want to miss!
