House Party 2 is the second of four installments in the comedic House Party film series. The film was directed by Doug McHenry and George Jackson. House Party 2 opens with the death of Kid's (Christopher Reid) father. The local church decides to collect a fund for Kid so that he can afford to attend college, which was his father's dream. However, Kid's best friend and partner in hip hop group Kid N'Play, Play (Christopher Martin) has landed the duo an opportunity to produce a demo and possibly even make their group famous. Upon hearing this, Kid informs Play that he can no longer partake in the group because of his responsibilities in college. This creates a major rift between the friends and could be a permanent end to Kid N'Play. The soundtrack for House Party 2 was one of the most popular in film history; some of the tracks, such as "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" and "House Party", were ranked highly by Billboard magazine.
