How to Rob a Bank is a 2007 comedy and mystery. Jinx (Nick Stahl) has never really lived up to his name. Instead, he's led a carefree life, not thinking too deeply about his place in the world. All this changes, however, when Jinx winds up at a bank on the wrong day. Instead of making a simple withdrawal, Jinx is caught in the middle of a heist gone wrong. In a moment of wild and unthinking panic, Jinx locks himself in a bank vault with one of the robbers, the sultry Jessica (Erika Christensen). Jessica and Jinx try to figure things out from inside the vault, while outside a tense stand-off is taking place between Jessica's partner, Simon (Gavin Rossdale), and the police, led by Officer DeGepse (Terry Crews). While Jinx weighs his options, Jessica fills him in on certain unsavory details about the way banking works. Jinx's worldview is forever changed by the encounter, but he still has to figure out how to deal with the robbers.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 50

New York Daily News Elizabeth Weitzman

An excellent actor too often stuck in unworthy roles, Nick Stahl deserves much better than Andrew Jenkins' derivative, self-conscious heist flick.

  • 30

    The Hollywood Reporter

What's most disturbing about "Bank" is its lack of ambition. Maybe Jenkins will take more chances in the future. If he's lucky, this stinker will be quickly forgotten.

  • 20

    Variety Ronnie Scheib

Amateurish, half-hearted romantic comedy-cum-heist film twists itself into unconvincing knots to pull off a guilt-free bank robbery.
