How We Did It is a musical documentary featuring some of the biggest names in the hip-hop and rap industries. Released in 2009 and directed by Greg Street, the film is a series of interviews with hip-hop artists including T.I., David Banner, Trick Daddy, Juvenile, and many more. The interviews focus on artists telling about their beginnings and their big breaks. Each artists points out the competitiveness of the music industry and how tough it is to break into. Each hip-hop artist tells their story. T.I. was a drug dealer in Atlanta who gave up dealing to pursue music. David Banner dropped out of the Master of Arts in Education program at University of Maryland to pursue his musical career. In addition to interviews there are clips of artist performances. Writers, producers, and other industry insiders are also interviewed giving their tips and advice on how to succeed in the music entertainment field.
