Howard the Duck George Lusas's first production after he left the position of president at Lucasfilm. It is a live-action adaptation of Steve Gerber's Marvel comic book. Howard (Chip Zien) is a duck living on a planet called Duckworld, inhabited by anthropomorphic ducks. A mysterious temporal anomaly sucks him out of his apartment and transports him across the universe. He lands on Earth and quickly gets into a fight with a gang of thugs, who are beating up an innocent woman. He chases off the thugs and comes back for the girl. Her name is Beverly (Lea Thompson), and she is in a band. Against her better judgment, Beverly takes pity on the strange creature and invites him to spend the night. When morning comes, and Howard figures out just where he ended up, he must work to either get home or find some way of fitting into a world where anthropomorphic ducks are not very common.
