Hubert Selby Jr.: It'll Be Better Tomorrow is a documentary narrated by Robert Downey Jr. that explores the life of author Hubert Selby Jr. Selby wrote Last Exit to Brooklyn, The Room, Requiem of a Dream and other highly acclaimed gritty and realistic novels. The film features interviews from Ellen Bursyn, Udi Edel, Nicolas Winding Refn, Richard Price, Henry Rollins, and many others who discuss the turbulent life of Hubert Selby who despite being a former merchant marine, coal miner and heroin addict who wrote best selling novels that were adapted to film. Also featured in the film, are interviews with the lively author himself who had a unique writing voice and an unconventional way of writing that often ignored the traditional use of punctuation. Though Selby's life was riddled with controversy and his health was eventually whittled away by tuberculosis, Selby remains an inspiring, and well-loved author whose stories are still widely read today.
