Human Monster is an thrilling adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In his first feature film, Director Stephen Weeks chose to change the names of his characters in this authentic adaptation of the ever classic story about a mishap in the lab. Dr. Marlowe (Christopher Lee) is an Freudian physician determined to unlock the secrets to human consciousness and inhibition by experimenting with drugs that will set the feelings loose. The drug works all too well, though, as when the doctor turns the drug on himself, his inhibitions are indeed gone, resulting in Edward Blake (Lee), a fearless figure that wreaks havoc on the city. When Marlowe's lawyer Frederick Utterson (Peter Cushing) looks into the matter of a series of violent crimes throughout the city, the trails leads back to Blake, who he believes to be a friend of Marlowe. But as he learns the harrowing truth that the doctor is indeed having an increasingly more difficult time controlling his alter ego, Utterson may find that it is too late to go back. Human Monster, also known as I, Monster and The Beast Must Die, is a classic work of 70s British horror.moreless
