Humboldt County is a 2008 comedy about Peter (Jeremy Strong), a medical student who has to face his worst fears when he winds up stranded with his social opposites. Peter has always lived a straight and narrow life, working hard in medical school and trying to please his demanding father, Professor Hadley (Peter Bogdanovich). When Peter fails to land a major residency, he feels as if his life has been pulled out from under him. Depressed and dazed, Peter makes a rash decision and takes a drive with a mysterious and free-spirited stranger, Bogart (Fairuza Balk). Bogart unceremoniously leaves the next morning, accidentally stranding Peter in her hometown. Peter feels like a stranger, surrounded by pot farmers and free-living eccentrics. Slowly, though, Peter starts to warm up to this new community, and they start to accept Peter as a true friend. When outside threats strike fear into the citizens of Humboldt County, Peter has to decide where his loyalties lie and what he wants to do with his life.moreless
