Hurricane Smith is an exciting 1952 South Seas adventure with shipwrecked sailors, suspicious scientists and hidden treasure. Directed by Jerry Hopper, this classic tale finds Hurricane Smith (John Ireland, "Spartacus") marooned on a deserted island with his fellow shipmates. Their luck begins to change when a slave trader anchors nearby and they steal the ship from Captain Raikes (Emile Meyer). After sailing to Australia, they meet scientists Harry Gorvahlsen (James Craig) and Dr. Whitmore (Murray Matheson), who claim to need transport for a research expedition of local plants and animals. They accept the commission and add Raikes to their crew. Gorvahlsen and Whitmore are actually in search of a hidden cache of gold, but little do they know that Hurricane and Raikes are secretly after the same buried treasure. Luckily for Smith, Whitmore's daughter Luana (Yvonne De Carlo, "The Munsters") provides a lovely and romantic escape from the three-way contest for the loot.
