I Am Legend is a 2007 science-fiction drama directed by Frances Lawrence and an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Richard Matheson. The film is set in post-apocalyptic New York City and tells the tale of one man who vows to find the answers to what has happened to mankind. In the movie, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville (Will Smith) was a virologist in the United States Military. While working on a project, a colleague of his made a terrible mistake. Consequently, a relentless incurable disease began to plague New York City. As the disease began to spread rapidly, chaos ensued. During a particularly chaotic event, Neville lost his wife (Salli Richardson) and young daughter (Willow Smith). Years later he finds himself alone in an abandoned world and still trying to find a cure to the disease that destroyed his life. Can Robert unravel the mystery and reintroduce others to the post-apocalyptic world?
