I Got the Hook Up

Movie Summary

Director:
Michael Martin
Released:
1998
Rating:
R

I Got the Hook Up is the debut of rapper and impresario Master P in a starring role. He plays Black, who along with his friend Blue (Anthony Johnson), comes into possession of a truckload of cell phones. The two broke friends usually traffic in televisions, boomboxes and other consumer electronics but see the cell phone shipment as a chance for their big payday. They sell the phones out of their van at a discount to neighborhood friends and rivals alike. Things get interesting when the buyers discover that the phones don't work as well as advertised. In particular, local thug T-Lay (Tommy "Tiny" Lister) has a deal go wrong because of a defective cell phone and goes after Black and Blue. They also have to worry about curious FBI agents and a phone security worker (Frantz Turner) looking to shut down their operation. I Got the Hook Up is a hilarious crime caper and features a soundtrack from Master P's No Limit records.
