I Like It Like That is an intense romantic drama set in the Bronx. Chino (Jon Seda) and Lisette (Lauren Velez) are a struggling couple who face both financial and relational problems. Chino gets in trouble with the law, and Lisette, trying to maintain a house full of children and her sanity, chases down a higher paying job uptown. She lands a contract with a dubious record company through a questionable executive, Stephen Price (Griffin Dunne), but it looks like she may be able to achieve equilibrium. Unfortunately, things at home get worse. Her materialistic mother-in-law, Rosaria (Rita Morena), is not helping, and her only source of consolation is her transsexual sibling, Alexis (Jesse Borrego). Then a group of young men in the neighborhood tell Chino that Lisette is actually dating Stephen. His reaction sets off a chain of events that may break the delicate balance that is keeping this family afloat.
