I Walk Alone follows the story of recently released convict Frankie Madison (Burt Lancaster). Frankie has just spent fourteen years in jail after producing rum during the prohibition days with his partner, Dink Turner (Kirk Douglas). Now Dink has a legitimate job as a nightclub owner and manager. Frankie comes looking to rekindle the relationship and the business, only to discover Dink has no intentions of looking back. The relationship quickly sours when Frankie demands his share of their take from their earlier work together and finds out that the money has gone into funding the club. Dink tries to calm Frankie down with the companionship of his girlfriend, Kay (Lizabeth Scott). However, the plan backfires as the two fall in love, and now the relationships begin to spin out of control in this story of love, greed, and revenge. The 1948 film has become a historical memory of the era and an early sign of the budding professional relationship between Lancaster and Douglas.moreless
