I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown is an animated made-for-TV film based on Charles Schulz's timeless Peanuts characters, this time centering on Lucy and Linus's younger brother, ReRun van Pelt. Having watched Snoopy and Charlie Brown from afar, Rerun would do anything for a dog for Christmas. When both his mother and Lucy believe him to be too young for the responsibility, Rerun turns to the source of his dog envy by playing with Snoopy. Snoopy grows tired of the constant attention Rerun seems to want and seeks out Spike, a thinner and sleepier mustached sibling. The van Pelts take Spike in but the stay is only temporary before he makes his way back to the desert. I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown, like all Peanuts' movies, focuses on the anxieties and joys of childhood with ReRun's desire to have a faithful, loving friend despite the nay says of his family.
