Iceman is a 1984 science-fiction drama directed by Fred Schepisi. Dr. Stanley Shepard (Timothy Hutton) is an anthropologist who discovers an ancient man encased in ice when he is on an expedition in the North Pole. The "iceman" (John Lone), is 40,000 years old, and a team of scientists manage to bring him back to life. At first, Dr. Shepard wants to communicate with him to find out about life in the past, and he accepts the fact that the other scientists only view the man as a lab specimen to study. Over time, his views about the ancient man begin to change, and Dr. Shepard starts to form a true bond with him, naming him Charlie. As Charlie expresses his frustration at being held captive and the other scientists continue to poke and prod him, Dr. Shepherd must decide how to help his Neanderthal friend find a place in the modern world.
